Dennis Drotar

Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine

Requests for reprints should be sent to Dennis Drotar, Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital, 2103 Adelbert Road. Cleveland, Ohio 44106.

Three case histories of adolescents facing death in a hospital are presented, to illustrate different facets of the problem of providing support to such adolescents and their families. Discussion is focused on the need for helping the family in its role, on the adolescent's developmental concerns, and on the culture of the hospital and staff reactions to death.
