A group of hyperactive children and a group of nonhyperactive children were administered a stimulus-seeking scale, to determine if stimulus-seeking behavior is related to hyperactivity. There was no difference between the groups in stimulation-seeking behavior, but a significant difference was found between the two groups in parent-rated activity level. The importance of structure in a child's environment and how this topic might relate to future research on activity level is discussed.
