Length of Labor and Sex of Offspring1

Length of labor was found to be longer for mothers giving birth to boys than for mothers giving birth to girls in four independent groups born at two hospitals. Birth weight, parity, and hospital also related to labor length. However, when these factors were held constant, sex of newborn remained a predictor of length of labor.
