Wishing Doesn't Make It So: A Close Look at Stehbens' "Refutation"

In 1982 we failed to replicate findings of Stehbens and associates concerning a disproportionately high percentage of newly diagnosed children with cancer exhibiting Verbal-Performance discrepancy of 15 points or greater. In addition we raised several methodological questions about Stehbens' study. In a current article Stehbens claims to refute our critique. However a close examination of the "refutation" reveals it to confirm our initial conclusions.
